Winter months present a special season as our camp is usually under snow from November to March. Please check weather conditions and camp accessablilty with the camp adminstration.
Winter Recreational Activities
The winter months hold many outdoor recreational activities for our camp renters. The Wild and Scenic Upper Rogue River many winter activities for the snow enthusiast. Cross-country trails, OHV Trails, and local snow parks await the cold-weather campers.
Many areas surrounding the Union Rogue River Camp are open to snow-shoeing, cross-country trails, OHV trails, hunting, and many other fall/winter recreational activities.
Winter Temperatures
Our Winter season is generally October to early May.
- In the early Winter months (October to mid-November) the temperatures are beginning to cool (45-50 F day time, mid-30's F night time) and the days are becoming cold and rainy. Early winter storms are known to blow up in the right conditions.
- Mid-Winter (November to March) temperatures range in the day time from 25-35 F down into the 15-20 F range at night. It is not uncommon to spend the day tubing at the local snow park or on the back country ski the trails around the camp just to come back to a warm fireplace in the common room.
- Towards the end of winter (late-March to early-May) the temperatures can range between the 35 and 55 F day time temp. and as the spring approaches the evening tempratures begin to warm above freezing. The transition from cold winter into the budding spring thaw is a refreshing awakening to the forest foliage. There are occasional late winter storms during this period. Yes! Snow in April.
